What the inspector reads
It recognizes the UUID version and variant. Versions 1 and 6 contain a Gregorian-epoch timestamp; version 7 contains a Unix timestamp in milliseconds; version 4 is random and has no embedded creation time.
UUID versions at a glance
- v1: time-based legacy format.
- v4: random identifier.
- v6: reordered time-based UUID for improved sortability.
- v7: Unix-time-ordered UUID with random data.
The inspector does not validate ownership, authenticity or uniqueness. It only reads the structure of the value supplied.
